ACADEMICS

The Following Courses are Offered this Year Through FWC Academy.

English

Learning to read and write is a skill all students must learn to succeed in higher grades and the work place. Students learn grammar, spelling, reading, writing, and more through English.

Tutoring

Tutoring is available for all students in need after school at the church. Tutoring is a good way to get your child caught up, or staying on track as they grow academically.

Worldview

Our goal at the FWC Academy is not only for students to pass the required courses by the state, but to grow in their faith and be grounded in truth. Worldview teaches children why they can be confident in their faith and God's Word.

History

History is an important subject for students to learn. A great saying tells us those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Students will be taught both how God interacts through history, and important lessons we can learn from the past.

FWC Academy serves 6th-12th grade students began in Fall, 2023. Quality academic training matters in the development of a student, and our goal is to provide this to our students.

Many students in our community are behind in their education, often due to the disruptions of COVID lockdowns that were completely out of your students’ control. Assisting students in getting to grade level and beyond is our goal, and our team of teachers and staff will do everything in their power to assist in the academic advancement of your child.

Curriculum & Classroom Philosophy:

A. Old Fashion: We believe as a general rule students learn better from pen and paper than a computer. While computers are required for a few classes, students will have textbooks, notebooks, etc. that are utilized for the bulk of their classes. When a laptop is necessary the school will provide the laptop for the students to use in class.

B. Mixed Curriculum: FWC Academy does not use one set curriculum publisher for every class (such as Abeka or BJU Press) but believes different curriculums have strengths or weaknesses in different subjects. However, FWC Academy does strive for consistency within a subject, meaning all math classes from 6-12th grade will use the same curriculum (Saxon) as their foundation of learning.

C. Critical Thinking: We believe students should be challenged to think, solve problems, and not simply sit and be lectured. Teachers will strive to challenge students to solve problems, think critically, and work as a team.

D. Hands On: Hands on learning is important for many students, and our teachers work to provide “hands on” examples and education in many subjects.

FWC Academy tracks the academic progress of students through placement testing (using our online system) so we can identify strengths and weaknesses academically and work to support your student as they advance in their education.

Dual Enrollment: Started in Fall, 2023, FWC Academy is partnered with Lee University to offer duel enrollment college courses to high-school students at our school (11-12th grade) with qualifying GPAs. The cost of the early college courses is covered by tuition
